The Cotswolds

Minchinhampton is a charming and historic Market Town in the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.   Minchinhampton is situated centrally within the Cotswolds, making it an ideal place to stay for a weekend break or short holiday.  The town is adjacent to Minchinhampton Common - 600 acres of land designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which is grazed by cows and horses in the summer months and provides habitats for rare butterflies, orchids and much more.   Minchinhampton has all of the benefits of the Cotswolds, with beautiful Cotswold stone houses in the historic centre of the town, lovely countryside all around with fabulous views, a thriving High Street with shops and cafes, yet none of the coach loads of tourists stopping off for a quick photo opportunity.

Where to Eat

Minchinhampton has a variety of award-winning shops and cafes, all within easy walking distance of The Close.

The three cafes/restaurants each have their own distinctive characters:

The Kitchen is a fabulous place to pop in for a cup of coffee, delicious cakes and light lunches.

Sophie's Restaurant serves excellent quality French patisserie, lunches and dinners (mostly on a Saturday - check opening dates/times).  They also have a little shop at the back of the restaurant selling French wines and other goodies.

Henry's cafe, attached to the organic Woefuldane Dairy shop, is a great place to relax over coffee and a cake, whilst watching the world go by.

There are also three excellent dining pubs on the outskirts of Minchinhampton, all of which are dog friendly:

The Old Lodge, in the middle of Minchinhampton Common.

The Ragged Cot, on the eastern edge of town.

The Weighbridge Inn, near Nailsworth, which specialises in their 2-in-1 pie (half pie and half cauliflower cheese).
